Our client, a highly regarded top 30 London-based law firm, has an outstanding opportunity for a senior commercial lawyer to join the Risk Management Department.

Reporting to the firm’s Director of Risk and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other senior stakeholders you will take responsibility for all the commercial and procurement matters affecting the business.

The role will involve reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, overseeing and advising on all aspects of the firm’s procurement processes, providing advice and support in relation data protection and assisting with any disputes arising from contractual arrangements.

This is a key hire for the firm as it develops its risk function further and the role holder will take responsibility for commercial contracts from initiation to execution. You must ensure the firm navigates legal and regulatory issues and is compliant in relation to data protection. Horizon scanning and updating on new rules and regulation will also factor in this role. Looking ahead there will likely be a need to get involved in ESG in relation to procurement as well. The position will involve working with the firm’s management and risk teams and liaising at a senior level and supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled commercial lawyer with experience of procurement processes. It will be necessary to demonstrate sound business acumen and a good understanding of commercial risks. We believe at least 5 years’ PQE will be necessary to fulfil this role, and more experience will be highly advantageous.

The firm is looking for someone with strong organisational skills, able to hit the ground running and is a self-starter. You need to be commercial, pragmatic and proactive with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You may already be an in-house lawyer or a fee-earner in the relevant practice area seeking a move to a non-fee earning role in a law firm.
