Head of Business Improvement – Law Firm Risk & Compliance
Our client is a fast-growing international consultant-led law firm with an outstanding reputation, and we are proud to be helping to build the risk & compliance function.
We are seeking an individual to fill the role of Head of Business Improvement. You will support the General Counsel in the implementation of best practice in risk and compliance across the firm, which will include the development and growth of the firm’s Compliance Academy. The role will have responsibility for the provision of tailored training or mentoring of partners and associates.
Ideally, we are seeking an individual who has gained experience in law firm or professional services risk and compliance but is now seeking to undertake a role that is a little bit different. You will need to get out to the partners and business to promote the risk and compliance function and secure “buy-in” from the lawyers. This role is as much about building those relationships as it is about the technical areas of risk and compliance.
Accordingly, the role requires someone with excellent people and presentation skills with a positive “can do” approach. You must be able to engage with individuals in the business and ensure partners and colleagues alike are fully on-board with crucial risk and compliance issues. A track record in delivering projects and results will be essential.
We are open to considering fee-earners or risk & compliance specialists, ideally with 3+ years of experience. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of some/all of AML, conflicts, financial crime, sanctions, SRA and regulatory issues or professional indemnity. The role will be based in Manchester with hybrid working and some travel to London and other offices will be necessary.
