Our UK law firm client is specifically seeking a qualified lawyer who is either a senior associate or equivalent (legal director/counsel etc) or existing law firm partner to join the incredibly busy public procurement and commercial projects team either as a partner or with a clear track. There is no expectation of a book of business as the team have an over capacity of quality work..

This is a new role with a strong (but not 100%) focus on a broad range of public sector work ranging from complex technology outsourcing, transport & infra and also energy. The team are now seeking  legally qualified commercial projects/ project development senior lawyers or public procurement lawyers to assist with the work that is being generated by multiple high-profile panel appointments (either at National of Local government level.

This law firm has made good inroads into this sector over the last 10 years and the practice is evolving to take on significant, mainstream capital projects. So, this isn’t a greenfield site, but nor is it the finished article (i.e. there is plenty of momentum, clients and pipeline, but the group is not so well developed that there are no spaces for career progression). The team is well supported by management and has experienced partners on hand to provide support and integration to new partners. Any lateral will also get the benefit of a full-service firm with plenty of the necessary expertise within the business to support these sorts of deals (corporate, projects, commercial, regulatory, finance, property etc).

The likelihood is that you will currently be at one of the stronger firms / offices outside of London, perhaps blocked by existing demographics. Here you will find multiple routes to career progression – partnership and equity partnership and an agnostic approach to location (this firm had a flexible approach to the office even before the pandemic), together with a commitment to this work and an understanding of how to price and be competitive.
