Sam Hadfield
Sam is a legal recruitment specialist with significant experience of working within the renewables, cleantech and infrastructure sectors covering both private practice and in-house mandates.
Before becoming a legal recruiter, Sam spent four rewarding years teaching English at a Public Japanese High School in Hyogo, Japan after completing his law degree at the University of Reading in 2018. Having helped numerous students secure their places at highly regarded Japanese universities by passing their entrance exams in English, Sam developed a passion for helping people with their careers. His own legal background led Sam into legal recruitment on his return to the UK in 2022 and he now offers effective and impactful hiring solutions, as well as helping people to shape their future and ensure their talents are being used in the journey to Net Zero.
Sam’s market focus to date has been on UK & EMEA energy mandates placing talented professionals with extensive clean energy expertise from an array of fields including (but not limited to) construction, corporate, PPAs, project finance, projects and real estate into growing teams at law firms, developers, IPPs and investment funds across England, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania and Spain. The level of roles ranges from Senior Paralegal level to Junior and Senior Legal Counsel or Associates through to Head of Legal / General Counsel / Chief Legal Officer level.
Sam has also had a lot of success recently with first-time appointments, helping clients to find the right people for the challenging task of being either the first lawyer for a renewables or cleantech start-up or a key strategic legal hire overseas, where a renewables business is appointing their first lawyer in a new jurisdiction.
Outside of work, Sam can most likely be found enjoying himself at any live music venue where a rock or indie artist is playing. Having attended 20 gigs throughout 2024, he’s hoping this can be matched or even topped this year.
